Band name

The boys have been talking and there is a suggestion that they will change their name
anyone got any suggestions?

BillyKan tour down south

Well Billykan have just returned from their mini tour down the south coast of Australia with two appearances at Pambula and Tathra hotel
The Pambula Gig wasn't so much to write home about as they played too approx 2-5 people, but the atmosphere was ok. (except the to
dickheads that rocked up stoned off their heads and started throwing coasters at us, but i suppose i just look at that as a bit of jealousy
and that isn't a bad thing). The band had a good night and they were told that everyone that would have liked to have been there assumed
that since the merimbula "jazz" festival was on that we must have been a jazz band. (pity for them they missed a good night out).

Tathra hotel was a different story with the band staying at Tathra hotel the previous night they had alot of time to kill before they performed
so a bit of band bonding was had.
Despite the long ass walk they had to incure due to Tathra being built on a mountain. They got to see the main town of Tathra which wasnt
all that too much, i think i had like a supermarket, a chemist and a fish and chip shop.

The boys were itching allday to play and after lunch, hamish retired to the bedroom for a nanny nap and the rest of the band were told they could
set up if they wanted too. Didn't hamish plan it well.

They started at 9pm and the crowd consisted of about 15 people not to many people but more than pambula.
First set was played well but the crowd just wasn't there as they were expecting.

But but the middle set people had started to arrive and the place was really starting to rock.

Isaac was swinging his guitar around his neck and Hamish and Dave were launching in the air like it was blast off time.
Dean and Greg were playing perfectly tight and the whole gig was turning out ok

The crowd really got into the whole set by the end of the gig and Rage against the machine's "Killing in the name of"
finished the night of really well.

After the gig the boys went back to their hotel room and after the young guys had had a few drinks, they tried to entertain the rest of
the band with their acrobatic tricks which was the most funniest thing ever to see them trying to do front flips onto the bed and
completly missing the bed and hitting the wall...... ahhhh the joys of a rock band :p`

The band is next booked to appear at Bermagui Country club on the 24th of June 2006 details will be up after the gig.

braidwood review

Well we all set of for the gig at about 3pm amped up and ready to rock
once we had arrived we started setting up and things seemed to be going pretty good until, we realise that Deano has left the effects box at home. Deano rushes back to Moruya from Braidwood at a billion miles per hour and the rest of us set up everything and drink beer (amazing how good beer makes you feel when things are going really bad)
Gig starts at 7:30 and there was still no sign of Deano
Deano arrives at 7:45 and we set up the rest of the stuff and play
Gig seems to be going pretty well during the first set so we move straight into the second set without a break
this is when all hell breaks loose, we were surprised that we didn't get bottles thrown at us or we were playing behind a cage fence (blues brothers style)
Some drunk women approaches us and tells us that the whole room is not into the style of music which we play, we ignore and tell her to live with it.
Isaac has an arguement with the women, dave doesn't care, deano has gone to tell the manager to settle the women down, greg has a beer and hamish just keeps getting told that he really rocks.
Isn't it funny that a gig can seem so shithouse and someone still manages to compliment the group.
We finish out last set and by this stage we don't care what the crowd think anymore, we decide to let a couple of the crowd member have a play with us on the stage (hopeing to pull the crowd in to our advantage). It works and we are then on the road to a good night. I wish the footy wasn't on and that we didn't play in the TAB, but that just must be how they do it in the town of Braidwood
We finish for the night and pack up faster than a sperm chasing the egg and head for home
The night was very interesting but we all know that we got paid to play there regardless of what happened.
Lets hope that Tathra can be just as memorable.

Friday, February 24, 2006

Gee, things were going realy well for Billykan and now they have all just turned to shite for the moment, after the Tuross Gig the band was amped to get out and start doing heaps of gigs, the thought through out the band was that they were all going to have a break and restart their rehearsals in January, little were they aware that their was a mole amongest them....
Yes thats right folks Billykan was slowly being sabotaged by their drummer Mitchel
When all the band thought that they were going to be able now get heaps of gigs and start playing frequently Mitchel was thinking about abandoning the group without any warnings.
Oh i must say the only warnings which were received were from him giving the ever friendly one finger solute to each member of the band whenever he saw any of them and telling anyone (that would listen) that Billykan was pretty crap . This guy is so full of shite i hope that he realises that the is not the best drummer around and he can be replaced in a heart beat.
Anyway Billykan now need a new drummer, they performed a gig on the 11th of February with Hamish on the kit and singing at the same time and it went down ok, but a drummer would allow Hamish to perform to the best of his lead vocal abilities and really get the band back together and playing HARD....

To all the bands out their that have had this sought of thing happen to them
all that i can say is I REALLY DO FEEL FOR YOU......It really F@#Ks up your mind frame and almost puts you back to square one
Check out the pictures of the band rocking hard
Thats if for now

New years eve Gig

This post is to review BillyKan's gig at Tuross Tavern on 31st of December 2005 (New years eve)

The gig started well with the only problems being the singer (Hamish) recovering from a cold and the heat of the venue (i suppose the big spot lights didn't help matters much either)

First set consisted of:
Thats what i like about you
Alive
Purple Haze
Shivers
Santa Monica
Peaches
Smells like teen spirit
Get Back
Kitty
When i come around
Rollover DJ
Fire

This set was just the opener and although the band played really well the crowd just didn't get into these songs enough to dance, although there was alot of people there watching..

Set Two
God save the queen
Welcome to paradise
Give it away
Herion Girl
Smooth Criminal
Killing in the name of
DCx3
Israel's Son
Sickfest
Champion

This was the set that got the whole crowd out onto the dance floor and rocking
The opening song had Hamish jumping and rocking the crowd with his moves while Isacc on guitar, Dave on Bass, Mitch on the drums and Dean on lead guitar followed suit rocking out just as hard. The band was performing so hard that it was near impossible for the crowd to not move.
By the end of the set the atmosphere was set for the night and everyone was ready to go off...

Set Three
Song 2
Higher Ground
Like Wow Wipeout
The Right Time
American Idiot
Dammit
Shook me all night long
Satisfaction
Are you gonna go my way
Am i ever gonna see your face again
On my mind
Prisoner of society

Another well performed set with the band performing still as hard as they started, it was getting close to 12am so the new year was looming..Hamish had to change his shirt twice by this time and it was obvious that he was going need to again before the end of the show

Set Four - Last set
Blister in the sun
Buy me a pony
Come out and Play
Bullet in the head
Longview
Suck my Kiss
Cold hard bitch
Foxy Lady
Self Esteem
Know your enemy

This set was a killer and the crowd was going insane by now
people singing, dancing, jumping, moshing it was crazy,by the time the last song was done it was almost as if when the band stopped they were going to have a lynch mob after them....

Encore
The band was forced (not they didn't want to) to play extra songs and decided to replay
Fire
Killing in the name of

Both songs were crazy and the band was still so full of energy
Killing in the name of would have to be the highlight of the night
(Gee, Rage against the machine was an amazing band and they developed some amazing songs)with the whole crowd just jumping and dancing in time to the beat

BillyKan enjoyed the night and hope that all that saw them did to.

If you get the chance to see them you should... You wont be disappointed.Check out their website in the profile
